Brief Personal History of Dr. Civas
I was born in 1971. I started my medical training in 1987 and graduated as medical doctor in 1993. I worked as general practitioner from 1993 to 1996. I commenced dermatology and specialty training in 1996. I graduated as dermatology specialist in 1999 after submitting my thesis work on Behçet’s Disease.
I started to work in a hair transplantation center in 2000. I attended a basic hair restoration surgery course in ISHRS congress in Vancouver, Canada after making a remarkable visit to Dr. Kolasinski’s Ponzan clinic in 2004.
I have performed all my hair transplantations by using FUT technique composed of hairy skin strip method for graft harvest with preparation of hair grafts under microscope since 2005. Moreover, I have used FUE technique of hair transplantations on selected patients since 2006.
So far, I have attended 2 ISHRS congresses and 3 ESHRS congresses. I was invited as a speaker and made an oral presentation titled as “Redefining Corrective Hair Surgery in Young Patients” in ESHRS Congress in Paris in 2007. I also got invitation as a speaker and made another speech titled as “3 Tools Used to Dissect the Fue; Reevaluating the Limitations, Candidate Selection and Future Research of this Technique” in ESHRS Congress in Madrid in 2008.
I have performed around 2000 hair transplantation operations by now. 2-3% of all hair transplantation operations is comprised of female patients, 1-2% of all operations is comprised of corrective surgery and 3-4% of all operations is comprised of hair transplantations for causes other than AGA.
